PHYSICAL PREPARATION:

Most times people think that they are more physically fit than we actually are so be wise and exercise. Start off with walking or jogging/running (about one to two miles) each day, doing push-ups (start with 10 or 15 reps) per set. Do about 5 sets to start with each day. Sit-ups, same as push-ups. If you have access to a pool, do some laps. Start out with lower amounts (reps) its okay, have faith, you can build yourself up with time. If the numbers mentioned above are not enough for you to work up a sweat for your work out than add a little to each work out or set or both.

**reps: means repetitions, repeating, repeated i.e., 10 to 15 times.

**sets: each "set" equals amount of reps i.e, 10 to 15 times. More or less according to your physical condition.

PERSONAL DRIVE:

Have a personal drive, don't forget why you joined the Sea Cadets.

Think of one reason you wanted a challenge, more structure in your life, go on nod your head YES, keep yourself focused through the hard times as well as the good times. Write down what your number one reason you joined the cadets and look at it for a reminder when you need a moral boost.

LACK OF KNOWLEDGE:

What you don't know can hold you back. I don't mean to scare you but ...new recruits need to have chapters 1, 5, 6, 9 & 10 completed for the knowledge in the BMR (Basic Military Requirements). Do those and read them over and you will be on your way. At your recruit training there will be some classes and you will need to know the information provided in these chapters especially if you are shooting of Honor Cadet (knowledge is the key to all doors).

MENTAL PREPARATION:

IF you do the first three topics mentioned above, you will be ready for anything you are challenged with.

1 - Be physically ready (walk, run, sit-ups and push-ups)

2 - Your personal drive. What reason did you write down?

3 - Put the knowledge into work. DO your BMR chapters.

4 - Now get yourself mentally prepared. Go to work on the 3 topics

listed above and remember this…

YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO!!!
